Early Voting and Registering in Virginia

Just as important as advocacy work, exercising your right to vote is a critical tool in demanding better systems and supports for Virginia's parents and children!

Early voting in Virginia begins on Friday, September 20. We’ve gathered some information to help you know your options ahead of Election Day this November.

Early voting begins in Virginia on Sept. 20th and ends on Nov. 2nd, three days before the Nov. 5th election day. During this election year, voters will decide the next President of the United States, control of both chambers of Congress, and dozens of governorships and state offices (though Virginia’s election for the next governor is in 2025). A total of 468 seats in Congress are up for election which includes all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 33 seats in the Senate. There are 11 state gubernatorial elections and numerous other state and local elections on the ballot this year.

If you would like to see who is on your ballot this November, click here to visit the Virginia Public Access Project, which has tons of useful information about Virginia’s elections and candidates as well as elected officials. Also vote.org has great resources on voting and elections as well as options for registering to vote. By the way, it takes about two minutes to register to vote!

Prevent Child Abuse America has also created an election resource with information and resources to assist voters so we can become informed and active participants during the 2024 election cycle and beyond.
