We’re excited to share that as of today, Early Impact Virginia has become a fully independent 501(c)(3) organization!

This evolution is part of a thoughtful and long-term vision for strengthening Virginia’s home visiting system. Families Forward Virginia and Early Impact Virginia have worked closely together for years, and this realignment - effective July 1, 2025 - allows each organization to sharpen its focus and deepen its impact.

While our operational structures are now distinct, our shared commitment to supporting families through high-quality home visiting remains unchanged. This shift reflects the natural evolution of EIV’s role as a statewide backbone organization and positions both organizations for continued growth and success.

What Does This Mean?

Starting July 1, 2025, Early Impact Virginia will operate as a fully independent nonprofit. This change is largely administrative - our staff and partners will not experience any disruption to services or collaboration. We’ll continue to work side by side to support the success of home visiting programs and a strong workforce across the state.

Here’s Answers to Questions You May Have

Why is this transition happening?

  • This shift allows each organization to focus more intentionally on its unique role within the home visiting landscape. By operating independently, we can ensure clearer priorities, streamlined operations, and more efficient resource allocation—all in service of strengthening families and communities.

How will this impact existing programs and services?

  • All current programs and services will continue uninterrupted under the new structure. Families Forward and its three home visiting programs will remain deeply engaged in the Alliance and the continued success of Virginia’s Plan for Home Visiting. Our collaboration on training, technical assistance and shared initiatives will continue as usual.

What will this mean for local programs that have worked with both Families Forward and EIV?

  • From the perspective of local programs, nothing will change. Sites will continue to receive the same supports and services from both organizations. The separation is simply a formalization of how EIV has been operating independently in practice for some time.

Will there be leadership or staff changes?

  • No major changes are expected. While there may be some operational adjustments, we anticipate continuity in leadership and staffing. Any updates or changes will be shared transparently.

How will the new structure affect data sharing between Families Forward Virginia and Early Impact Virginia?

  • Data research and sharing will continue seamlessly under updated agreements that reflect our new organizational structures. All current protections for privacy and security remain in place.

How will this affect stakeholders, partners and donors?

  • Our relationships with partners and funders are critical in our continued focus on children and families. We will ensure all commitments are honored and will update as needed on how collaborations will continue under this new structure.

When will this transition take effect?

  • The official transition is planned for July 1, 2025, in alignment with the start of the new fiscal year.

We’re excited about this mutually agreed-upon and positive step that allows both EIV and Families Forward to grow and focus more effectively on our distinct areas of work. EIV has intentionally evolved into a statewide backbone organization, and this transition reflects that growth. We remain aligned in mission and values, and we continue to closely partner in supporting and growing the field of home visiting.

We thank you for your continued support as we take this exciting next step! Together, we will continue advancing the programs, policies, and partnerships that empower families and strengthen communities across Virginia.
